About

Background

I received my Masters in Social Work from NYU and also hold a Masters in Media from Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. I like to combine a variety of techniques and am drawn to research-based approaches to therapy. In addition to my work with clients, I also supervise already-licensed therapists who seek to deepen their skills in couples and individual therapy.

Style

My style is interactive. I bring warmth and patience to the process and a sensitivity to cultural nuances. Growing up in Germany, and emigrating to the US many years ago, have helped me to approach my work through more than one cultural lens.

My first career was in documentary film. I contributed to films on deaf identity, racism and troubled teenagers and discovered that the direct interaction with the subjects of those films was the most intriguing part of the work for me. Rather than just portray people’s emotional challenges, I decided to work directly with them — and so I became a therapist.
